Do You Have a Clear Vision?

An Easy, Simple, Successful Principle
Every week I talk with two types of agents; Those who understand this principle and those who don’t. The agents who don’t understand this principle whine about lead programs not being effective, want us to provide them leads, and usually never find themselves on the producer board, or producing much at all. The agents who understand the principle earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. When they call it is to fine tune the principle. What is the principle? Simple it takes. . .
. . .money to make money. Agents who aren’t willing to spend money, and I don’t mean just a couple hundred of bucks either, I am talking about a lot of money, are not going to make big money. Ever.
It is simple economics. In every other business you have to spend money to make money. Why would insurance businesses be different?
I had an agent who made over $350k last year in commissions tell me that he spent $65,000 on marketing last year. I asked if he was successful at it. He said “nope. I failed at about $30,000 of it. But if I hadn’t failed, the other $30,000 would have been wasted too. The key was to fail at enough stuff to know what worked for me. Once I figured that out the rest was easy.”
He also had an interesting question: “Would you rather spend $60,000 and net $290,000, or spend $2,000 and only make $50,000?” His answer? “I’d rather spend more to make more and keep my business above all the agents who don’t get it. I am better off then they will ever be.”

Now is the TIME
The market dropped again yesterday. The news isn’t getting any better. Most people are hurting and want information to make better decisions. So, what did you do today to contact them? What did you do to bridge their knowledge gap? What are you doing to grow your business? I tell you what I would be doing if I were you, I would. . .
Be looking for a way to offer more to my clients. More than product. More than what I have been doing. I would be trying to align my expectations with my clients, not the other way around. I would be offering something that actually helps people, something they can feel and touch, something that makes me referable to their family and friends.
I would be introducing them to services that saved them money. I would be offering to give them back 10-30% of their monthly net take home pay and allow them to do whatever they wanted with it. I would help them lower their insurance premiums, beat the bank and get their finances in order.
